Solving logistical challenges in an uncomplicated and collaborative way motivated Randon Ventures, the startup investment unit of Randon Companies, and Fras-le to hold the Company’s first LogDay. The meeting, held this Thursday, March 23, took to Extrema (MG) startups specialized in logistics solutions, the so-called logtechs, to identify and propose solutions to the challenges of the Fras-le Distribution Center.
Created to house the Nakata Complex, the structure was expanded and transformed into a powerhouse for the aftermarket, concentrating logistics and national distribution processes for Fras-le and its subsidiaries Nakata, Controil and Fremax. The structure of 23.4 thousand square meters is equipped with the most technological and safe for distribution centers.
The new DC boosted business synergy and brought new challenges linked to the complexity of operations. Meeting the volume of demands quickly and efficiently requires agile processes and technology suited to the reality of the business. LogDay meets this need. Logistics and distribution managers shared the challenges and reported needs to the segment’s startups, dedicated to solving problems in a disruptive way and aligned with the robustness of Fras-le’s operations.
It is the first time that Randon Ventures performs a matchmaking in a unit of the group. Mateus de Abreu, Director of Business and Digital Strategies at Randon Companies, explains that startups that offered appropriate solutions to Fras-le’s logistical challenges were selected. In this first edition, Sirros, TrugHub and Abbiamo participated, in addition to the startups Flowls, GreenPlat, Panorama ID and Trackage.
Among the other units of Randon Companies, teams from Autotom and DB also participated in the meeting. “LogDay’s proposal is to seek, in an intelligent and joint way, solutions to real logistics problems in a flexible and economically viable way. From here, effective projects and new businesses can result. We must repeat the experience, favoring the ecosystem of Randon Companies”, he highlights.
The operational complexity of a distribution center like Fras-le encompasses several aspects. The challenges, as Marcelo Tonon, general director of Nakata, points out, are the need to serve customers in an increasingly agile way, considering the growing number of delivery points and in increasingly fractionated lots.
The diversification of the company’s portfolio also brings organizational challenges, as well as maintaining competitive costs and adequate inventory levels. All this with the most advanced technological processes, which guarantee efficiency and safety for employees. “The company always benefits when exposed to initiatives that bring better practices and results, as is the case of our partnership with Randon Ventures. Our exchange of experiences, lessons learned and shared ‘pains’ will certainly serve as insights for the operation and for the logtechs”, he points out.
LogTechs
LogTechs are technology companies applied to transportation. Like FinTechs (finance), FemTechs (for women), LegalTechs (legal services), these startups are growing and changing the market in the segments in which they operate 1. They use innovative technologies such as big data and machine learning to optimize deliveries, transportation and other logistics activities 2.
