The Secretariat for Development, Innovation, Culture and Tourism (SMDICT) announced, this Thursday (23), the return of the largest rock festival in the region. The 2023 edition of Rock and Poetry will take place on April 2, on the stage at Praça Zeca Netto, starting at 3 pm. The event is a partnership between O Mouro Produções, SMDICT and Camaquã City Hall.
Among the attractions this year, the main show will be the band Os Replicantes. The Brazilian punk rock band was formed in the city of Porto Alegre and turned 39 in 2023. In these almost four decades, Os Replicantes produced thirteen albums, more than one hundred original songs, including “Surfista Calhorda”, and three DVDs. In 1985, the band recorded a music video for “Nicotina”, the first in the history of rock in Rio Grande do Sul.
Their presentations are a sonic mass of contestation and fun. The lyrics are timeless. The songs criticize the human condition, echoing existential and social problems, such as racism, oppression, censorship, violence against women, global warming, always in an ironic and sarcastic way.
The festival will also feature performances by the bands Mal Fati, Blind Dogs, Tarja Preta, Wings On fire, Caindo em Órbita, Hammerhead and Artrite.
Rock & Poesia 2023 is supported by Afubra, Steel CAD, Scope Productions, Global Way Idiomas, Casa Sutil and Pitana Barber Studio.
