The Municipal Kennel of Lajeado performs the “Open Doors Kennel” action on Sunday (26). The activity starts at 10am and continues until 4pm at the kennel headquarters, at Avenida Benjamin Constant, number 8409, Conventos neighborhood. The facility currently houses 181 dogs – 82 more than its capacity. The action aims to encourage the adoption of pets.
The Municipal Kennel acts continuously, temporarily housing stray, abandoned, sick, injured, run over and critically ill dogs that need veterinary care.
– With action, we want to offer the community a flexible schedule for visitation and carry out the adoption at the Municipal Kennel. It will be a special day, which we intend to expand, so that more people can get to know our space, our work and all the dogs sheltered there. It is a way of bringing dogs closer to possible adopters – explains the coordinator of the Municipal Kennel, Celi Ulrich.
What do I need to do to adopt?
The kennel currently houses 181 dogs, with capacity for 99 animals. To carry out the adoption, the possible adopter, after choosing the animal, goes through a brief adoption interview. The kennel team addresses issues such as responsible ownership, the animal’s temperament, family situation, where it will be sheltered, the family’s financial conditions, among others.
After the completed interview, it is necessary to fill out an adoption term in two copies. After the protocol, the animal is released to go to the new home.
The action aims to encourage interest in adoption and present the work developed by the kennel to the community.
