Easter 2023 is just around the corner and, as usual, chocolate is the product most awaited by consumers. Thinking about guaranteeing the best flavor during and after the commemorative date, the Brazilian Association of the Chocolate, Peanut and Candy Industry (Abicab) gathered nine tips for preserving products.
Companies associated with the Entity will bring 440 Easter items for the date, with 163 launches, the result of new partnerships, formats and flavors that will surprise the consumer.
And to preserve the quality, the chocolates must be stored in a dry, cool place and protected from sunlight. In addition, it is essential to always check the information contained on food labels, as if there is a need for specific storage conditions, they must be indicated. Also, it should be remembered that, for safe consumption, it is essential to consume all foods within the expiry date stipulated on the packaging.
“We want consumers to consciously enjoy the best flavor of chocolates”, said Ubiracy Fonsêca, president of Abicab. “That is why, together with our technical team, we are sharing simple and effective tips for preserving chocolate and for sharing it with those we love for longer.”
Check out the tips that Abicab put together to help the consumer in the conservation of Easter eggs or chocolates in general:
- Check the labels, product information is on the packaging;
- It is very important that the chocolate does not undergo sudden changes in temperature during the journey between purchase and final consumption;
- Always try to store them in the coolest part of the house, always sheltered from the sun;
- Do not store chocolate in the refrigerator, as the product may become harder and even lose sensory characteristics;
- Chocolates easily absorb odors from the environment, so they should not be stored next to condiments or products with a strong smell;
- Remember, after opening the chocolate, close it very well, for example, with the help of aluminum foil or well-sealed plastic pots. This practice will protect the product from fluctuations in humidity and, consequently, from contact with water;
- Once opened, Easter eggs can also be stored in their own packaging, while bonbons, if not well sealed, must be kept in airtight packaging;
- Check the place of purchase. Products must be stored properly. Temperature-controlled, well-ventilated environments are ideal;
- Even following all these recommendations, if your chocolate presents changes, we advise you to contact the manufacturer’s SAC before consumption to clarify the situation and identify the exact condition, ensuring safe consumption.
“The chocolate and Easter egg industry is always looking to offer consumers products of high quality and unparalleled flavor. For this, we invested in a long period of preparation, about a year and a half before the commemorative date, to meet the demands and preferences of the public. And this year was no different. Therefore, with these simple tips, the consumer will have the opportunity to enjoy Easter chocolates with all the flavor and quality that the date offers”, concludes Ubiracy Fonsêca.
