Santa Maria holds the 1st Footvolley Mallet Cup this Saturday (18), at Praça General Osório, known as Praça do Mallet, starting at 8am. The sports competition is promoted by the Municipality of Santa Maria, through the Secretariat of Sport and Leisure, in partnership with Gabriel Durlo, professor of the modality.
The 1st Mallet Cup has 22 registered pairs and there are no more vacancies. Footvolley is one of the most popular sports on the coast, and this will be the first time that the tournament will be held in the Square, a place that gathers hundreds of people on weekends.
In the afternoon, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, there will be activities for children with the Escolinha Itinerante de Trânsito, from the Department of Urban Mobility. Employees of the Traffic Education Program and agents from the Traffic and Urban Mobility Coordination will guide the little “drivers” and teach them basic rules such as signaling traffic regulations, stopping at traffic lights and respecting crosswalks, among other rules, so that they everyone be aware in traffic.
