The Gerd Bornheim Municipal Art Gallery, in Caxias do Sul, is now open to receive the exhibition “Depois de Inspirar”, by visual artist Lurdi Blauth. The opening takes place on March 9, at 7 pm, at the Percy Vargas House of Culture in Abreu e Lima. The exhibition presents works produced in woodcuts, metal engravings and contemporary processes, such as dry point, mokulito (Japanese lithography) and offset litho.
Different means such as digital photography, recording in alternative matrices, printing, scanning and reprinting images on various supports are explored as production techniques.
Curated by Fabiane Machado, “Depois de Inspirar” provokes the viewer, through the relationship between art and nature, to rethink their presence in the world. The works address the artist’s perceptions regarding the environment, both through the theme represented and through the use of techniques that involve research processes in recycled and less toxic materials.
In the engravings of the “Mata” series, the artist prints some red threads, “they are elements that sometimes refer to the presence of vital energy, sometimes refer to the involuntary presence of fire, which in a slow and subtle process causes death, absence”, highlights Lurdi Blauth .
In the installation “Inspirar e Expirar”, repeated images of tree branches printed in red, form the figure of a lung and refer to the urgent need to take more care of the environment in all directions.
