The exhibition OSTRAbalhadores, which is on display at Floripa Shopping, in Florianópolis, presents the work of mariculturists in the south of the island. With free admission, the images developed between July and August 2018 are on the L2 floor, next to the cinema, from March 1st to 31st.
Mariculture involves the cultivation of marine organisms such as fish, molluscs, crustaceans and aquatic plants.
OSTRAbalhadores is a photo-documentary project that aims to praise the work of mariculturists located in the south of the island, in the capital of Santa Catarina. The different images of mariculture workers in action are enough to convey all the social and cultural value that this activity represents for Florianópolis.
The mariculturist, in this photographic narrative, brings a strong emblematic load of appreciation and representation of the small producer, of artisanal processes, of the family economy, of the rescue and maintenance of traditions, of sustainable development and, above all, of the daily clashes waged by many workers.
The adversities of the sea to guarantee the livelihood of their families with dignity, the contribution to environmental preservation, in addition to the good humor and joy of the manezinho that shines through during the days of struggle.
The arts that are on display at Floripa Shopping bring, above all, the love relationship that these mariculturists have with the sea.
