The price of gasoline has increased and Procon de Canoas is monitoring the variation in fuel values at gas stations, in order to verify whether there is an abusive increase, that is, without justification. Last Wednesday (1st), the teams visited nine gas stations for inspection.
To date, no abusive increases have been verified. The Fuel Handling Record Books (LMC) and the incoming and outgoing invoices, in addition to the amounts charged, are within the permitted profit margin (20%). In a more practical way, the stations can sell fuel at a value of up to 20% higher than the purchase price of the distributors.
The director of Procon, Taís Marques, points out that Procon’s follow-up is constant in these cases. “We have the inspection team focused on carrying out actions on fuel prices. During these two days, we are inspecting the values in order to curb possible abuse.
It is important that consumers exercise their rights, either by denouncing Procon via WhatsApp, or by exercising their freedom of purchase. Just as the company has the economic freedom to price its product, it is important that the consumer seeks the best price”.
She further explains that Procon cannot set the price of products, nor judge them abusive. Today, in Brazil, the only products that have fixed prices are cigarettes and medicines, and it is not up to the State or the consumer protection agency to determine the price at which products are sold.
Average of the nine inspected stations:
Average purchase of regular gasoline: R$ 4.77
Average sale of common gasoline: BRL 5.43
Average purchase of gasoline with additives: BRL 4.82
Average sale of gasoline with additives: BRL 5.53
All stations are within the 20% profit margin, considering the purchase and sale price, therefore, no station was fined for abusive increase. In case of complaints, Procon Canoas can be activated by WhatsApp number (51) 9914-90991.
