O President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, authorized the transfer of R$ 430 million for emergency actions in the face of the dry season in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The resources will be allocated to the areas of agriculture, social development and civil defense.
Faced with the demands of mayors, deputies, councilors and organizations representing field workers, for emergency support to face the natural disaster, Lula and ministers Rui Costa (Casa Civil), Paulo Pimenta (Secom), Wellington Dias (MDS), Waldez Góes (Integration and Regional Development), Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture), Jader Filho (Cities) and Alexandre Padilha (SRI), in addition to the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Gabriel Galipolo, held a meeting this Wednesday (2/22) , at the Alvorada Palace.
“There are R$ 430 million for emergency actions involving water supply, combating emergency hunger and guaranteeing a minimum subsistence for the affected families. Among other things, to be able to guarantee part of the herd that is dying due to lack of water and food. There is a set of other structuring measures, in various ministries, and an absolute willingness to form a working group with the state government, with city halls, with sector entities, to discuss complementary measures in the coming days”, said Paulo Pimenta .
This Thursday, 2/23, a delegation of ministers will visit black coala municipality located in one of the regions most affected by drought in the state, to formalize the measures of the Federal Government.
“In the area of family farming, we are going to create a second installment of the Credit Facilities in the amount of R$ 5,200 for each farmer to deal with the issue of the corn they need to buy, animal feed and infrastructure on the property. The idea is to serve ten thousand families”, explained Paulo Teixeira. “In addition, we are going to grant credit to 40 thousand farmers in the amount of R$ 6 thousand”, added the minister.
For low-income farmers included in the Single Registry of the Federal Government, there will be an extra emergency transfer via Bolsa Família of up to R$ 2,400 to more than ten thousand families, in an estimated investment of R$ 25 million. “It is a value aimed at family farmers, indigenous people, quilombolas, through monitoring by the technical assistance network. A resource to mitigate losses and aimed at production”, explained Wellington Dias.
