The Eloísa Capovilla Public and Historical Archive gathers an estimated six thousand items that were part of the historian’s personal collection. The family delivered the last materials on Thursday, February 16th.
According to the Cultural Heritage coordinator at the Municipal Secretariat for Culture and International Relations (Secult), Joel Santana, the Public Archive received books, the author’s research, personal objects, among other publications that were part of the library of the professor-doctor in History , Eloísa Capovilla, and are now being catalogued.
Santana says that the expansion of the public archive is being planned to include the historical documentation of the City Hall of São Leopoldo and the secretariats. “The change must be made with a bill that will be presented by the Executive”, he says.
About Eloisa Capovilla:
The professor-doctor, Eloísa Capovilla, was at the forefront of memory spaces, as director of the Train Museum and the Caldas Júnior Anthropological Museum; she was a member of the Historical Institute of São Leopoldo and the National Association of History.
She had a PhD in History and taught that scientific area at unisinos. At age 75, Eloísa was one of the victims of Covid-19. She passed away on April 13, 2021.
