A man, identified as David Luiz Porto Santos, 33, died after using an anesthetic on his left arm during a tattoo session. The death is being investigated by the Paraná Civil Police (PC-PR).
The session took about eight hours and was the sales rep’s first tattoo. In a statement, Monike Caroline de Freitas, the victim’s wife, told the police that her husband had an immediate reaction to the anesthetic applied by the tattoo artist, lidocaine.
My husband was fine with finishing the tattoo, until the tattoo artist put an anesthetic on him, when he was cleaning up the excess. He went all over his arm. My husband asked what had happened, he replied that it was an anesthetic. My husband said his pressure was dropping and the tattoo artist said it was normal – said Freitas.
Initially, the case was registered with the Homicide and Personal Protection Division (DHPP), however, the case had to be referred to the 6th Police District (DP). The information is from UOL.
Investigations pointed to misconduct by the tattoo artist. According to Deputy Wallace de Brito, the professional used a prescription from a veterinarian to obtain the anesthetic.
– The tattoo artist said that it was customary to use the anesthetic and confessed that he acquired the medicine with a prescription. We found out that the prescription was from a veterinary doctor; we heard her and she reported that she did not provide the prescription and that she had nothing to do with the case. Even so, we will investigate her conduct in this investigation – said the delegate.
The incident took place in April 2021, but only now have the police released the case.
