Recently, the National Supply Company (Conab), analyzed the Logistic Bulletin of Brazil, which pointed out several fluctuations in relation to freight, both in terms of values and low demand. Comparing 2021 and 2022, shipping costs increased in most states in the country. An example of this is the variation that fluctuated between 9% in Paraná and 96% in Goiânia. In addition, the study reveals that in the last two months of 2022, demand for freight weakened in most of the States analyzed.
According to Marcel Alessi Soccol, founder of DATAFRETE, a technology company specialized in freight management, regarding the increase in value, each State has specific issues that contributed to the fluctuation. “An example of this is Mato Grosso do Sul, where the increase was due to uncertainties regarding the political moment, market and consumer behavior, among other factors. In the Federal District, the rainy weather of this period was a factor that limited local grain shipments. In Paraná, we can mention the protests on the highways”.
The Bulletin also revealed that exports had considerable increases. Corn, for example, had an increase of more than 118%. According to Soccol, this increase in Brazilian exports was due to excellent international prices. It is important to remember that the Boletim Logístico is a monthly journal that contains data collected in the states with the greatest demand for freight, namely Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Distrito Federal, Paraná, Bahia and Piauí.
Industries bet on direct sales to the consumer
In recent years, the industry has been adapting and reinventing itself in the face of economic challenges, investing in innovation. Among the market trends are: entering sales digitalization processes and changing market positioning. As a result, many companies bet on opening their own e-commerce or entered into one. marketplaceserving the final consumer, which can be called D2C (direct to consumer) or direct customer service.
Digitization is the process of investing in new technologies to improve workflows and lower costs. According to Soccol, D2C is a shortening of the conventional distribution chain, that is, industries, franchises, distributors or importers carry out direct sales to the customer, without going through retailers.
With the digitization movement of the sales channel of industries and distributors, companies began to find a need to rely on quality technology for the management and optimization of processes to manage and have control of all operating channels and reduction of business costs. An example of a company that saw opportunity and business expansion was DATAFRETE, which focuses on developing solutions for freight management and shipper logistics.
The company stands out in the Brazilian market as a multichannel solution that accompanies this entire transformation process. ‘Currently we can see that companies have numerous sales channels, which makes it difficult to manage operations. Through the DATAFRETE system, the industry can manage the freight of all its operations, from inbound, that is, receipt of goods, to outbound, destined for the final customer”, he comments.
Finally, Socool points out that among the proposed solutions, the freight gateway, which integrates the freight quotation process in the e-commerce platform, is the most suitable. “It gives the end customer the option to choose the freight that best suits them, in addition to enabling the company to make freight a sales conversion strategy at a lower cost”, he concludes.
