The Collective exhibition Monster Drawing “Nau dos In-sensatos” – 9th edition, organized by Adriana Mdos Santos, is the first unprecedented exhibition to be exhibited in 2023 at BADESC Cultural Foundation. The opening, with free admission, will be at 7 pm on Thursday, February 16. On the date there will be a musical intervention by the Tokata Monstro project and a poetry reciting with Rosane Cordeiro da Silva.
Adriana explains that the project started in 2010 and at each edition there is something new both in terms of theme and format. The curator points out that Monster Drawing is about thinking about the monstrous as a way of reflecting on what society understands as beyond the human.
For the curator, the collective exhibition proposes that the visitor seeks the strange, the unusual, the different in his personal production, with no restriction of content, approach or conceptual line.
Drawings, paintings, photographs, objects and ceramic pieces, installation and video are part of this edition of the exhibition.
“’Nau dos In-sensatos’ has the principle of transposing certain curatorial and montage rules, having a very particular character. So much so that it constitutes a certain unpredictability, although obviously respecting the rules of the spaces where it takes place. In the collective, there is a certain complicity between those involved that touches on some art movements where it can touch very subtle and profound notes for the public that appreciates it”, highlights the organizer of the exhibition.

In addition to the curator and creator of the project, Adriana Mdos Santos, 19 other artists participate in the exhibition, they are: Betânia Silveira, Camila Villacis, Carmen Zaglul, Eliane Veiga, Estevão Mattos, Fernanda Fonseca Machado, Isabela Mendes Sielski, Janaína Corá, João Muller , Joseane Regina Reginatto, Kauê Policastro, Manolo Doyle, Marta Martins, Maurício Muniz, Ricardo Ramos, Robson Xavier da Costa, Ronaldo Linhares, Saulo Pereira and Thaís Gil. The introductory text of the ninth edition is by Jayro Schmidt.
Adriana emphasizes that all the participants of the ninth edition were happy with the exhibition at the BADESC Cultural Foundation. “There is an affective bond and deep respect for what this space represents in Santa Catarina. And our expectation is that the Drawing of Mostro “Nau dos In-sensatos” – 9th edition will be a very relevant event for the history of the collective together with a symbolic restart of the cultural life of the country”, she completes.
