The Autonomous Department of Highways (Daer) is executing the works that will solve one of the main bottlenecks of the ERS-118: the traffic jam in Gravataí, in the access to the Industrial District.
To proceed with the construction of a trench in the region where the factories are located, as well as a viaduct next to Avenida Centenário, on the ERS-030, two roadblocks at km 22 will be carried out starting on Thursday (2/9).
There will be a total interruption in both directions of entry to the Industrial District and the closing of the left turn on the access to Avenida Centenário (ERS-030), used by those traveling in the direction of Esteio to Gravataí, next to the roundabout.
“We ask drivers to understand, as interventions are essential to provide greater fluidity in road traffic”, says Secretary Juvir Costella. The state government is investing approximately R$ 28 million in the work. The work takes place over a length of about 1km and started in the second half of 2022.
“The blockade at the entrance to the District on Avenida Plínio Gilberto Kroeff occurs for the execution of a side road. It will serve as a diversion for traffic on the ERS-118, allowing for the necessary excavations to carry out the trench”, details the general director of Daer, Luciano Faustino. The underpass will have a 5.5 m high gauge and two lanes – one for those heading to the District and another for operational return from the highway.
“At the other point, we will build the viaduct that will serve the traffic of those entering Avenida Centenário, in the direction of Esteio to Gravataí”, adds Faustino. “The overpass will be curved and was planned to offer greater safety to road users, including a shoulder.”
So far, there is no forecast for the release of traffic and new changes may occur until the delivery of the work.
alternative routes
To access the Industrial District, those traveling in the Sapucaia do Sul – Gravataí direction must use the new road built between Morro do Coco and Hotel Radar. This route is also the alternative for those who need to leave the District.
The new access to the Industrial District is intended for users traveling from Sapucaia do Sul to Gravataí.
Those who travel along Avenida Centenário or BRS-290 (Freeway) will need to make a return next to the viaduct on Avenida Itacolomi, traveling 3 kilometers towards Sapucaia do Sul.
In the case of light vehicles, the return to access the Industrial District can be made through the municipal roads along Avenida Brasil and Avenida Dorival.
During the works, drivers who need to access Avenida Centenário, in the direction of Sapucaia do Sul to Gravataí, must make a return on the loops of the viaduct located on BRS-290 (Freeway) with ERS-118.
