This Thursday (2nd), Porto Alegre is promoting a great tribute to Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, with the highlight being the return of the image of the saint to the Igreja dos Navegantes, at the entrance to the Capital.
After a mass at the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in the Historic Center, the procession will begin with the presence of thousands of devotees who must walk through the streets in a journey of about three hours.
The organizers expect the participation of 30 to 50 thousand faithful. After walking along avenues Mauá and Castelo Branco, the arrival at Praça dos Navegantes will be celebrated with flowers and applause from the people. The image is received by the rector of the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, Father Remi Maldaner.
At 10:30 am, an open-air mass will begin, presided over by Dom Darley José Kummer, auxiliary bishop of Porto Alegre and other priests. In addition to the masses in honor of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, there are also theatrical and musical performances planned throughout the day.
