To strengthen the Room Tax in the hotel industry, Porto Alegre and Region Metropolitana Convention & Visitors Bureau (POACVB) has been carrying out the “Re_Conheça_POA” training since 2022, with reception, management, events and commercial hotels associates.
The training allows professionals to learn more about the news and differentials of the Capital, such as Pontal and Orla do Guaíba. The first class of 2023 was at Intercity Piazza Navona, last Wednesday (18).
“The collection of the Room Tax is passed on in full to the local Convention Bureau, which uses the funds in actions, capturing events for the city and publicizing the destination to different audiences. This is a vital collaboration for the progress of our projects to promote events and tourism in the capital. Therefore, we are investing in this and providing a differentiated service to our associated hotels”, comments the president of POACVB, Adriane Hilbig.
The Room Tax represents a large part of the income destined to the Convention Bureaus. The optional contribution applied to hotel guests provides actions that benefit the tourist infrastructure of cities. With this, the main beneficiaries are bars, restaurants, entertainment spaces and the hotels themselves, which are among the 52 segments favored by tourism directly or indirectly.
