An essential part of the house is the children’s room. It’s where they play, sleep, read and get creative. An environment of their own to explore and to imprint their personalities. With so many decorating options, what are the essential elements for a children’s room?
Let’s start with the basics: the tone of the environment. Not only pink and blue live the children’s palette. Green, lilac, yellow and even white are new favorite colors for this type of project.
For babies, the most neutral tones are preferred, as they convey feelings of tranquility, serenity and, of course, are a welcome extra help for dads who are concerned about the sleep of the little ones. As they grow, and gain personality, the brighter colors gain more space in the environments.
If you have a stamped figure that is present in most children’s rooms, it’s the wallpaper. The children’s ones are particularly the most charming and can be found with prints of circus, dinosaur, zoo, princess and many other themes. It’s a special touch that brings a lot of charm to the environment.
Even if the space is small, there is always room for decoration, and this is where niches and shelves come in. Of course, they can also be used for more practical everyday items such as diapers and wipes, but it’s a nice alternative to decorate.
It is essential that the room has places to store the children’s things, whether it be a closet, a chest of drawers or even both. Clothes, shoes, blankets and toys, all in one place.
In this project, architect Camila Amabile uses white as the dominant tone in the environment with subtle touches of beige in the furniture. The life of the project was due to the colorful wallpaper, printed with animals on one wall and polka dots on another. The breastfeeding armchair is an essential item for the baby’s room, it is where mothers breastfeed their little ones, so the furniture needs to be comfortable.
In this one, from an older child, pink is the center of the room. The lighting is also a show in itself, it is what gives a cozy and pleasant touch. On the shelves, the decorations are made up of the little resident’s toys.
