The exhibition “Híbridos: Amálgamas de Yesterday”, by artist Gustavo Prata, which opened in December 2022, can be seen until January 29, at the Arts Gallery of the Centro de Cultura Ordovás, in Caxias do Sul. The show brings together large-scale installation works made with communication articles and subsequent human disposal such as newspapers and packaging.
In this way, tools from the artistic scope such as brush and ink are abdicated in favor of raw materials from everyday life, constituting metaphorical bodies of paper that appropriate the surrounding architecture to raise questions about both the passage of time and consumption itself, as well as of the very nature of the art object and what qualifies it as such. Thus, it proposes a poetic re-signification of these materials and their surroundings.
