The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, said this Wednesday, 5, that Pfizer’s immunizing agent is considered safe for children.
“Even the data we have and what was evaluated by the National Health Surveillance Agency, it is a vaccine considered safe for children”, he said in an interview to Jornal da Manhã, from the Jovem Pan radio station.
The minister defended the public consultation on the vaccination of children aged between five and 11, promoted by the Brazilian government.

According to him, the consultation did not have the character of a referendum, it only served to make a decision. “Information needs to be provided to parents so they can make the decision,” he said.
According to Queiroga, the Ministry of Health has planned in advance to acquire and offer doses of pediatric vaccines.
“We have a current contract with Pfizer, in which it undertakes to offer all doses for the age groups that are included in the National Immunization Plan”, he explained.
The government has already requested the immunizations and they will be made available as the pharmaceutical company has the vaccines to offer the Brazilian population.
About the pediatric vaccine, Queiroga said that “the vaccine went through phases one, two and three of clinical research, but after this phase there is the so-called phase four, in which the vaccine will also be under observation in terms of safety”, he concluded.
