The biggest Macromix Wholesale unit, located at Avenida Theodomiro Porto da Fonseca, nº 2120, close to Avenida Unisinos, in São Leopoldo, has a novelty. The store now has a supply of photovoltaic solar energy, in which the electricity used in the unit is generated through sunlight.
The initiative is part of a project by UnidaSul, the holding company that manages the network, to encourage sustainability and energy efficiency in its branches. “In September 2022, we opened our first solar power plant, at Macromix in Sapucaia do Sul. We have also concluded the second plant in this new branch in São Leopoldo and we will also have a third unit, in the Macromix in Portão”, says UnidaSul’s Infrastructure Director, Almir Menegussi.
The executive explains that the holding has planned the installation of solar panels in all the new Macromix branches. “The recently inaugurated stores already have the plants installed and, or, projects in progress”, he emphasizes.
Among the advantages of using this type of energy, Menegussi highlights the greater use of a natural light source, the sun, which guarantees sustainability, economy, safety and predictability in spending at the units.
