At the end of the morning of this Monday, the 9th, the team from the Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec) of Novo Hamburgo participated in a first virtual meeting with members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which is headquartered in Paris. , in France.
This initial direct contact with the international organization’s team was used to present the Municipality and detail the work carried out by the Pasta, with a focus on economic diversification strategies and support for micro and small companies.
“At this first meeting, Novo Hamburgo was already invited to start the process to integrate the OECD’s networks of best practices in the themes of regional development and financing strategies for local development”, details the secretary of Economic Development, Paraskevi Bessa-Rodrigues.
With the invitation, the Municipality is one of the few around the world that opens the procedures to join the Organization’s network of contacts, which are used to establish international standards of solutions to social and economic challenges.
The OECD is an international organization with 38 member countries. They work with governments and citizens to improve economic performance, create jobs, promote sound education and combat tax evasion.
As such, the OECD has an international knowledge center, with data for analysis, sharing of best practices and advice on public policy. Currently, the Federal Government is in the accession process to join the OECD.
