Time to Care
The public school system in Canoas has Tempo de Cuidar: a program to prevent school violence and promote the well-being and care of children and adolescents, from Kindergarten to Elementary School.
More than two thousand students participated in lectures and conversation circles on topics such as school violence, bullying and cyberbullying; socio-emotional skills; and conflict resolution. Recently, Tempo de Cuidar received an honorable mention from the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul for the work that has been developed, which demonstrates the potential of the initiative for the municipality.
Literacy Pact
The project aims to guarantee the constitutional right of each child to quality basic education. It uses an evidence-based methodology that allows you to monitor the development of each student, class and school, evaluating achievements and correcting learning gaps whenever necessary.
In the last assessment of the year, the Literacy Pact program showed that almost half of the students in the initial grades in the municipality can read and write. In 2021, the 1st year index was 31%, while in 2022, it reached 47%, representing an increase of 16% compared to last year. In relation to the 2nd year classes, in 2021 the percentage was at 45.4% and, in 2022, reached 64%. The number represents an increase of 18.6% over the one-year period.
