Canoas opens Popular Restaurant at special hours this Friday (23) - News Magazine

Due to the year-end celebrations, Restaurante Popular de Canoas will have a special operation this Friday, the 23rd, and the next, December 30th, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Usually, the restaurant opens from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Lunch costs R$1.00, and the amount is not charged for homeless people. Located at Avenida Boqueirão, nº 2751, in the Estância Velha neighborhood, the place serves 200 meals a day on average.

So far, in 2022 alone, Restaurante Popular has provided 49,000 meals, with an investment of BRL 635,000. Dishes are prepared by nutritionists, ensuring a healthy and balanced diet.

Under the responsibility of the Municipal Citizenship Secretariat, the restaurant serves Canoenses registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs, CadÚnico. Since it was reopened, on April 30, 2021, Restaurante Popular de Canoas has distributed more than 76,000 meals, which represents about 85 tons of food.
