The Municipal Health Department (SMS) announced this Monday (Dec 27), that anyone over six months old, and who has not been vaccinated in 2021, can go to health centers to receive the flu vaccine.
There is no need for an interval between the application of vaccine against covid-19 and against flu, according to the city. It is even possible that both are applied on the same day.
Immunization takes place in 469 Basic Health Units (UBSs), starting this Tuesday (28.dez), in drive-thrus, mega-stations and partner pharmacies, ie, the same places where coronavirus vaccines are applied.
SMS received one million doses of the flu vaccine. The Butantan Institute responded to a request from the SMS Health Surveillance Coordination (Covisa), which sent an official letter requesting additional doses of the flu vaccine, in an attempt to alleviate the worrying picture of the increase in the number of cases of patients with respiratory symptoms, in the last days.
In November 2021, the SMS recorded a total of 111,949 visits to people with flu-like symptoms, 56,220 of which were suspected of covid-19. This month, until this Monday (27), the SMS registers a total of 238,081 people with respiratory conditions, 108,835 of which are suspected of covid-19.
