Services provided by the health institution will be valid for another 12 months.
The City Hall of Caxias do Sul, through the Municipal Health Secretariat, renewed the contract with Hospital Pompéia for another 12 months, until the end of 2023. The confirmation was made by the institution’s board this Tuesday (20/12) .
Services continue to be provided in the maternal and child sector and the others provided for in the contract, such as consultations, exams, surgeries and urgent and emergency services. In response to a request submitted by Pompéia, the hospital will no longer perform 10,000 tests/month that were collected at the Specialized Health Center (CES). However, so that the population is not left unattended, the Municipality has already ensured that this demand will be met by Hospital Virvi Ramos.
Mayor Adiló Didomenico reaffirmed that the Municipality’s concern has always been to guarantee service to the population of Caxias do Sul. “We were very concerned about this situation, after all, we cannot replace certain treatments in which the Pompéia hospital is a reference. We have, first and foremost, a commitment to the population, but also to maintain the partnership and financial transfers to the hospital so that this much-needed service continues to be promoted”, he highlighted.
Secretary of Health, Daniele Meneguzzi, emphasized the enormous historical importance of the hospital and its close relationship with the community. “Recognizing this legacy and knowing the role it plays in health care for people from Caxias do Sul and the entire region, we, as City Hall, would never condone the possibility of reducing services and thus harming an entire population. Our fight has always been in defense of lives and that is why we never considered the possibility of abandoning the population. This has always been our stance and will remain so, ”she reinforced.
Since August, when Pompéia announced the closure of the maternity ward and other services, the state government and the Mediar-MP program joined the Municipality in negotiations for the renewal of the contract. “We also express deep gratitude to Núcleo Mediar and the state government for the entire partnership during this process”, he added.
