With an eye on the projection of thousands of tourists who should pass through the region by the end of the year, the restaurants in the Hydrangeas Region are preparing to meet a special demand at the time: Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners.
“For our region, these dates are a great opportunity to develop differentiated products with greater added value. If gastronomy is already a great ally of the tourist sector throughout the year, at Christmas and New Year’s Eve it takes on an even more special character”, comments Marcelo Wazlawick, president of the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) in the Hortênsias Region .
According to a survey by the entity, at least 20% of the associates must have special menus for the commemorative dates, both to be consumed in the establishment, and for orders, also serving the local consumer.
Since its opening in 2014, the Magnólia restaurant, in Canela, has offered a Christmas dinner option to order. According to the venture’s partner, Fernanda Chies, the greatest demand is for those who are passing through the city. “Most customers who order suppers are from abroad, like São Paulo, for example. These are customers who already know our house and our service and are looking for ease on these dates”, she explains.
With less than six months in operation, the Catherine restaurant, in Gramado, which opened in September, has also included the option of suppers for the dates. Inspired by French gastronomy, the house prepared a special tasting menu with five steps for both nights. “Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners deserve a special celebration, a hearty table, good food and drink to toast. It is the moment to celebrate the past year and the hope of the new cycle, which is why we have prepared a different night”, analyzes the partner of the house Josiano Schmitt. In addition to the special menu, the house will have a special program with classical guitar on these two Saturdays.
Entertainment is also the focus of many of the gastronomy operators in the region. The Gatzz dinner show, specialist in the subject offering dinner and musical show throughout the year, also prepared exclusive menus for the dates and differentiated programming. At Christmas dinner, there is a show called Simply Christmas and gifts are delivered to children by Santa Claus. The New Year’s Eve dinner will include a session of the Bellepoque show and a countdown to New Year’s Eve. After midnight, the party continues with music led by a guest DJ.
