Fostering tourism even more, and creating a wide and covered space to hold public events and cultural activities, regardless of weather conditions, are some of the points highlighted by the administration for the construction of Rua Coberta in Estância Velha. Mayor Diego Francisco also stresses that the work will stimulate local tradeattracting consumers from other municipalities.
According to the project, released this Monday, the 19th, Rua Coberta will be located on Rua Portão, next to Praça 1º de Maio, with a length of 70.4 meters and a width of 13.5 meters. The strategic location creates the connection between Praça 1º de Maio and Travessa Emílio C. Winter (popular Calçadão).
Traffic will not suffer any changes on the stretch, except on days of cultural activities, which is already customary for events held around Praça 1º de Maio, such as the Festival de Curb and other activities that receive a large audience. The forecast is that in mid-June 2023 the next stage of the project will take place, which is the bidding phase.
“We want to transform our city into a reference in the region in quality of life for its community, so we are working on several fronts. We have already renovated and expanded our hospital, and are currently completing the construction project for a new annex. We are carrying out the largest asphalt project in the region, covering more than 30 streets in all of the city’s neighborhoods, and promoting major cultural and artistic events. Now, we are going to start the construction project for Rua Coberta, to encourage tourism and stimulate trade in Estancia”, explains Mayor Diego Francisco.
