The industry in Rio Grande do Sul across various economic sectors was affected by the climate catastrophe that struck Rio Grande do Sul for much of the month of May. Given the impacts, and mainly because the original venue for INSPIRAMAIS was hit hard (Centro de Eventos FIERGS) and Porto Alegre’s international airport is expected to remain out of operation until December, INSPIRAMAIS was remodeled to maintain its 30th edition. The Brazilian Association of Component Companies for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal), in partnership with the Center for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), the Brazilian Association of the Textile and Clothing Industry (Abit) and the Brazilian Association of Furniture Industries (Abimóvel), announced that the launch event will take place on the 23rd and 24th of July in Rio Grande do Sul, and on the 30th and 31st of July in São Paulo.
The superintendent of Assintecal, Silvana Dilly, says that the fashion industry, especially that of Rio Grande do Sul, has demonstrated great resilience, with a quick recovery and that it counts on the help of its own employees. “The Gaucho fashion industry, which was hit, also understands that the wheel needs to turn to preserve business and jobs. Therefore, despite logistical difficulties, we announce that the 30th edition of INSPIRAMAIS is confirmed to take place at the Faccat Events Center, in Taquara/RS, and at Casa Petra, in São Paulo/SP. Fashion resists!”, she emphasizes.
As the executive president of CICB, José Fernando Bello, explains, INSPIRAMAIS is a vital link in an extensive production chain, and that is why its innovative implementation in two large centers is so important. “The new dates and taking place in two locations are a solution that meets market demand with INSPIRAMAIS. The event is an essential source of research and business, which gives rise to thousands of collections and deliveries of leather products and other materials every semester, and it will be no different now, with the union of everyone involved”, highlights the president -executive.
For Abit’s managing director, Fernando Valente Pimentel, the RS and SP editions of INSPIRAMAIS are opportunities to learn about trends and do business with the national and international market. “It is very important to continue this event that has always been successful and fundamental for fashion and business in the leather chain, now more than ever. Therefore, the participation of exhibiting companies and buyers is crucial to strengthen this important segment”, he highlights.
The event
Known for being the event “where fashion begins”, INSPIRAMAIS launches materials for the footwear, leather, furniture and jewelry industries, always based on thorough research carried out by its Design and Research Center. For the next edition, the research theme is Peripherals, which highlights creations from the so-called Global South.
The coordinator of the Assintecal Design and Research Center, Walter Rodrigues, highlights that the research, which will be presented in the Conexão INSPIRAMAIS space, during both events, points out that, at the top (10%), is the concept of decolonialism. “The concept has gained more and more strength, subverting the logic of the colonial pattern not only in the economic field, but also cultural and political”, he explains. Within the 10% of the Peripherals survey, Rodrigues highlights the subthemes: Malemolência, with fluid fabrics, rounded shapes, embroidery, exaggerated and stylized soles that give the idea of movement; Ginga, with natural fibers, fringes, weaves and 3D shapes; Cacophony, which refers to the multiplicity of expressions and harmoniously mixes different stories, which refers to the “gambiarra” and abuse of graphics and prints.
At 30% of the methodology, Rodrigues details the Intergenerational theme, which highlights the fact that the world has, for the first time, five generations living together simultaneously, which has an impact on fashion and its creations. In this context, the creative lists creations that combine eccentricity, nostalgia and the search for identity, which results in materials with a lot of volume, lots of textures, 3D and metallic elements, in addition to the contrast of more technological and minimalist designs.
Finally, the research presented brings the 60% of Homo Faber, which highlights manuality, originality and sustainability, with many references to tailoring, metals and geometric prints and manual work.
Operation
In the Rio Grande do Sul edition, INSPIRAMAIS will feature the Conexão INSPIRAMAIS space, the Leather Preview, lectures on fashion and market trends, and product exhibitions. In the São Paulo edition, in addition to the Conexão INSPIRAMAIS and Preview do Couro spaces, in addition to the launch exhibition, the show will bring international buyers and journalists for business rounds. “International buyers and journalists were already confirmed and were redirected to the event in São Paulo, due to logistical conditions. The export agenda is essential for our sector and that is why we made every possible effort to maintain the projects”, explains Silvana.
Accreditation for visiting INSPIRAMAIS is open on the website.
