Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) announced the immediate withdrawal of a well-known brand of salt from supermarkets. The action was taken after the detection of a dangerous substance used during the manufacture of these products.
Ground Iodized Pink Himalayan Salt from Kinino: Anvisa issued Resolution-RE No. 1,427, dated April 12, 2024, ordering the suspension of the sale, distribution and use of batch 1037 L A6 232, produced by HL do Brasil Indústria e Commerce of Food Products LTDA. The measure came after unsatisfactory results in iodine tests, essential for the prevention of thyroid diseases such as goiter.
Keishi Brand Noodles: In 2022, the Keishi brand, operated by BBBR Indústria e Comércio de Macarrão, was banned from selling its products due to contamination by propylene glycol mixed with ethylene glycol. The toxic substance, also found in dog treats that caused the death of 40 animals, led Anvisa to demand a recall and warn consumers about the risks.
Anvisa keeps the communication channel open so that the companies involved can present their explanations or official notes about the incidents.
