The National Social Security Institute (INSS) starts paying the first installment of the 13th salary, starting this Wednesday (24). In general, the first installment of the annual bonus, also known as the 13th for Social Security beneficiaries, occurs in August of each year.
The payment calendar takes into account the final number of the benefit card, without considering the last check digit, which appears after the dash, also called the Social Identification Number (NIS).
The money will be deposited together with the benefit for the month of April, paid between April 24th and May 8th. Insured people with a benefit with the final digit 1 and who earn up to the current minimum wage (R$1,412) will be the first to receive it, and so on. The second installment of the 13th INSS salary for 2024 will be paid with regular May benefits, credited between the end of May and the beginning of June.
Who receives
Social Security insured persons and pensioners who, during the year 2024, received retirement, temporary disability benefit, accident benefit, death pension or imprisonment benefit receive the benefit.
The 13th is due to retirees, pensioners, as well as people who receive, throughout 2024, temporary benefits, such as temporary incapacity allowance and incarceration allowance. In these temporary cases, the amount is proportional to the time it takes to receive the benefit.
Those who receive maternity pay are also entitled to the proportional 13th salary. However, it is paid together with the last installment of maternity pay and, therefore, the person does not receive the extra amount together with the other beneficiaries now.
The thirteenth is not paid to those who receive the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC). Elderly people and people with disabilities with BPC are not entitled to this additional portion.
