Caxias do Sul will have a new edition of Friday Cultural on April 19th, at 8:30 pm, at Zarabatana Café at the Centro Municipal de Cultura Dr. Henrique Ordovás Filho, the group “Descendo a Serra”. The event aims to explore the plurality and diversity of the city’s cultural area, in addition to attracting diverse audiences and providing nights full of meetings, fun and enjoyment.
Formed in 2018, in Serra Gaúcha, the choro group “Descendo a Serra” has as members: João Sebben, on mandolin; Felipe de Moraes, on cavaquinho; and Zeca Duarte, on 7-string guitar; in addition to counting on the participation of percussionist, Eduardo Arruda. In 2019, they recorded their first EP, which was released in 2020, with five tracks written by the members.
The group has already promoted several choro circles around the city and participated in music festivals in different regions of the country. At these festivals, the members acted as researchers or as attractions alongside important names in this musical style, which is considered the first Brazilian urban genre. In 2022, they recorded five compositions that will be released on Friday Cultural. In 2024 they were recognized as intangible heritage by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN).
The repertoire features original songs such as “Cento e Vinte” by João Sebben, “Madrugada” by Zeca Duarte, “Honesto” by Felipe de Moraes and João Sebben, among other songs by the group. Friday Cultural promises a night filled with lots of good music. Entry is free.
