Influencer Sofia Amorim, aged 22, died from suspected dengue fever in Goiânia. The young woman was 7 months pregnant. The baby also died. A friend, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that Sofia died the day after the illness was confirmed.
“She was very short of breath, so they thought it was anxiety […] On Tuesday afternoon, they found out it was dengue and went to ‘listen’ to her lungs. It was full of water. At around 10pm, they had to intubate her”, said the friend.
Mother and son died in a private hospital last Wednesday (27). The friend said that Sofia needed to be intubated the day before her death and had organ failure. Doctors even performed an emergency cesarean section.
“The baby had already died in her belly in the early hours of the morning, they didn’t deliver her immediately because her platelets were very low, she could lose blood. The cesarean section was the last resort to try to save her life”, explained the friend.
g1 was unable to obtain detailed information on the causes of deaths from the hospital.
Symptoms
According to her friend, Sofia had symptoms of shortness of breath and nausea on Friday (22). Four days later, on Tuesday (26), dengue fever was confirmed and at night she needed to be intubated.
“She was conscious before being intubated”, said the friend.
