To provide opportunities for fresh fish for Easter 2024, Novo Hamburgo is preparing the Fish Fair for the 28th and 29th of March, Good Thursday and Good Friday. The Fair will take place in two locations in the city: at Praça Centenário, between Rua Bartolomeu de Gusmão and Avenida General Daltro Filho, next to UPA Canudos, in the Canudos neighborhood, and in Lomba Grande, at Rua João Aloysio Algayer, number 1238, in front of the Rural Development Promotion Board. There will also be an option to collect fish directly from fish farmers’ properties.
Exhibitors will sell a variety of options including live fish, colds or frozen, and breaded (whole, em post or fillet). In greater quantities, fish farmers will offer tilapia and grass, silver, bighead and Hungarian carp species for sale. In smaller quantities, there will be catfish (jundiá), pacu, traíra and dorado.
“All products will be sold in compliance with animal welfare and inspection standards to guarantee the quality of the food”, reinforces the director of Rural Development Promotion, Cristine Becker. “All fish sold at the fair are grown in Lomba Grande, including frozen ones, which is a differentiator for us”, she concludes.
The Fish Fair is a partnership between the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedec), through the Directorate of Rural Development, Emater and Sicredi.
