Grêmio advanced to the semi-finals of the Campeonato Gaúcho after a 2-0 victory against Brasil de Pelotas, in Porto Alegre, this Sunday (10). Playing at the Arena and only needing a draw, Grêmio guaranteed their place in the next phase. Coach Renato Portaluppi’s men will now face Caxias, seeking a place in the final of the state championship.
The first game of the semifinal will take place in Serra Gaúcha, followed by the second leg in the capital. Grêmio’s winning goals were scored by Argentine midfielder Franco Cristaldo, with an impressive long-range shot in the 45th minute of the first half, and by striker Diego Costa, who finished after a rebound in the area in the 23rd minute of the second half.
Meanwhile, in the other semifinal of the Campeonato Gaúcho, Internacional will face Juventude. The dates for these matches will still be determined by the Gaucho Football Federation.
