The XVI Rio Grande do Sul Pediatrics Update Congress, organized by the Society of Pediatrics of Rio Grande do Sul (SPRS) will be from April 4th to 6th, at the Barra Shopping Convention Center, in Porto Alegre. In particular, on April 5th, starting at 2:30 pm, the mini-conference “Infectious Diseases – Leishmaniasis, Sporotrichosis and Leptospirosis” will take place on the risks associated with these infectious diseases and vital preventive strategies to protect children’s health.
Leishmaniasis, sporotrichosis and leptospirosis
Infectious diseases such as leishmaniasis, sporotrichosis and leptospirosis are important public health concerns, especially in endemic areas. A leishmaniasistransmitted by mosquito bites, can lead to serious skin ulcers and even affect internal organs, representing a challenge in diagnosis and treatment.
A sporotrichosis, caused by fungi present in the soil, can infect the skin and subcutaneous tissues, being more common in people who work in gardening or agriculture. Already the leptospirosis, transmitted through the urine of infected animals, can cause flu-like symptoms and lead to serious complications, such as kidney and liver failure. It is essential to be aware of the risks of these diseases, adopt preventive measures, such as avoiding contact with unfamiliar animals and maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, and seeking medical assistance when presenting suggestive symptoms, ensuring early diagnosis and effective treatment.
The round table will provide valuable information about these diseases, highlighting the symptoms, forms of contagion and available treatments. In addition, experts will be available to answer questions from the public, promoting an enriching and enlightening dialogue.
“Children’s health care is a priority and events like this are fundamental to educating parents and caregivers about important prevention and treatment issues”, highlights the president of the VI Gaúcho Congress of Pediatrics Update, Marcelo Porto.
