For the first time, Porto Alegre will host the Brazilian Coffee in Good Spirits Championship. This event, organized by the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), is a competition that highlights the skill of baristas in creating coffee cocktails.
The championship will take place from March 1st to 3rd at Shopping TOTAL (Av. Cristóvão Colombo, 545, Porto Alegre), where participants will demonstrate their skills as “mixologists”, creating their best drinks. The competition will be held in the Events Arena, located in store 1019, on the 1st floor of the shopping mall, and entry to the public is free.
Porto Alegre Barismo Cup
On February 29th, starting at 7pm, the Porto Alegre Barismo Cup will take place, which will have its first edition in the Latte Art category, with the evaluation of the best designs with milk in coffee, in store 1137, also on the 1st floor. The public will be able to enjoy free tastings on site.
Brazilian Coffee in Good Spirits Championship
Each competitor will have 10 minutes to present recipes for hot and cold alcoholic drinks with coffee. The competitions start at 2pm, and the grand final, with the six best competitors, will take place on Sunday, at 7pm, the same time that the new Brazilian Coffee in Good Spirits champion will be revealed.
There will be 10 competitors, four of them from Rio Grande do Sul: Amanda Demetrio – Porto Alegre (RS); Daniel Munari – Curitiba (PR); Dargel Rodrigues – Rio de Janeiro (RJ); Edu Silveira – Porto Alegre (RS); Emerson Moraes – Porto Alegre (RS); Leo Oliva – Curitiba (PR); Mari Mesquita – Brasília (DF); Matheus Luis Filagrama – Blumenau (SC); Paulo Roberto – Porto Alegre (RS); Renata Helena – Olinda (PE). The national champion will represent Brazil in the category’s world championship, which will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, between June 27th and 29th this year.
The event, free of charge, will have the space open to the public from 10am on three days, allowing visitors to also discover the latest developments from the brands present in the space. The 2024 Brazilian Coffee in Good Spirits Championship is sponsored by Nescafé and Naveia, supported by Achega Café and Café do Mercado and will have official equipment provided by GranCoffee and Bunn. The hosts will be Emovere and Café Porto Farrô.
