Sapiranga hosts this weekend, February 24th and 25th, the 1st stage of the Gaucho Downhill Championship at Morro Ferrabraz, on the Villa Paiva downhill track. The event’s organizing team, Radical Sports, called the competition ‘Downhill of the Emancipation of Sapiranga’, an allusion to the city’s anniversary celebrated on February 28th. The competition has the support of Sapiranga City Hall, through the Secretariat of Tourism, Culture and Sports.
Competitors will be able to do training and track reconnaissance in the morning on both days. On Saturday afternoon, the qualifying laps take place and on Sunday, from 1pm onwards, the official timings take place. The awards ceremony takes place at the end of the 25th, for the beginner, rigid, children’s, master C, master D, master B and elite categories for both women and men.
The Villa Paiva track is on Estrada Bruno João Kieling, the entrance is to the right of the climb to the top of Morro Ferrabraz. Nearby there are camping and food options for the more than 180 expected pilots. The public can follow the event free of charge, accessing the areas designated for this purpose.
