In a spectacular display last Saturday, February 10, the Saímos Sem Querê Samba School won first place in the 2024 Arroio do Sal Carnival, beating its main rival, Gigantes da Orla. The competition, which took place on the vibrant Avenida do Samba, was marked by a dazzling parade of talent and creativity, captivating both the audience and the judges.
On Sunday morning, the counting of votes was broadcast in real time on Rádio Tupancy, with careful evaluation by the judges in ten different categories, including costumes, samba-enredo and harmony. The dispute for the title was extremely balanced, with several categories showing a tie between the two schools. However, with a score of 99.8, Saímos Sem Querê emerged as the grand champion, marking their 13th victory in the event’s history. On the other hand, Gigantes da Orla achieved an honorable second place with 99.6 points, in addition to four gold standards.
Founded in 1987, Saímos Sem Querê is an emblematic institution in the Arroio do Sal Carnival, known for its traditional blue and white colors and the iconic eagle symbol. This year, its plot theme, “The fascination of predicting the future”, explored in an innovative way the various ways of predicting the future. With a total of 212 members, the school enchanted the avenue with seven distinct wings and three floats, showing the strength and passion of its community.
