Next Wednesday, February 15th, the MudaMundo project arrives in São Leopoldo, RS, for its first season in the city sponsored by Sulgás. The free activities begin with workshops for public school teachers. The first of them takes place in the Auditorium of the Municipal Department of Education (Praça Tiradentes, 119), from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. The next meeting, still with teachers, will be on February 19th, from 8am to 11am, at EMEI Jesus Menino (Rua Presidente Roosevelt, 409 – Centro). In March, there will be a full week of workshops for teachers, so everyone has the opportunity to participate in the training. No prior registration is required.
In addition to the awareness-raising workshops, which aim to collaborate with educators in rescuing values in the classroom, the project also includes the distribution of books from the MudaMundo series, authored by Caio Riter, to school libraries in the municipality, notebooks with suggested activities for the teacher, and theatrical presentations. The theater sessions, staged by the Minas Gerais group Real Fantasia, will be held in April, with a calendar yet to be defined.
The initiative focuses on promoting children’s protagonism and the teacher’s role in disseminating good examples. In the stories told in the book series, the main character is the boy João, a very smart boy, always ready to help others and bothered by injustices. Through the adventures of João and his friends, concepts of respect for others, care for the environment and the cities where we live are transmitted. João wants to change the world, making it more supportive, based on small attitudes in his daily life.
MudaMundo is made possible through the Federal Culture Incentive Law – Rouanet Law, and has the support of the Municipal Department of Education.
MudaMundo in numbers – In its 18 years of implementation, the project has already visited 155 Brazilian cities, reaching 5,558 public schools, impacting 20,138 teachers and 127,420 children. During this period, 480,039 books were delivered to school libraries in these municipalities.
