The Ministry of Health will begin the activities of the Emergency Operations Center against dengue (COE Dengue), which will coordinate measures against the disease, this Saturday (3). The initiative, coordinated by the department together with states and municipalities, aims to accelerate the organization of surveillance strategies in the face of the increase in cases.
According to minister Nísia Trindade, the structure will establish a permanent dialogue with cities and other ministries. “Our message is a message of national mobilization at this moment. A Brazil united against dengue”, she highlighted.
The minister explained that the center is created whenever the country faces an alert or emergency concern. “As we are seeing, dengue has seen explosions in cases in some municipalities, especially in the Southeast and Central-West regions. We had already been working with a situation monitoring room since November, but we consider a national mobilization to be important at this time,” she explained.
During the announcement of the initiative, the minister also commented on the role that the population itself must play with the increase in cases. “It is a public call for the entire country to unite to protect our population,” said Nísia. The portfolio holder also recalled that more than 75% of outbreaks are found in homes.
