On the 1st and 2nd of February, the city of Torres will hold events to celebrate the Day of Iemanjá and Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes. The schedule includes masses, processions and rituals of Houses of Religion, taking place in various locations around the city, with support from the City Hall and the Department of Culture and Sport.
On February 1st, in the evening, there will be a procession from Casas de Umbanda to the beach to offer offerings, focusing on flowers to minimize the environmental impact. The celebrations are expected to continue until around 2 am.
On February 2nd, at 5pm, a motorized procession is scheduled to depart from the Santa Luzia Church with the image of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes. There will be a blessing of the vehicles in front of the São Domingos Church and a mass in Praça Getúlio Vargas, in front of the Santa Luzia Church, at 6pm.
