By bringing together hundreds of people at a prestigious event this Thursday, 18th, in Massaranduba, the 6th Opening of the Rice Harvest of Santa Catarina highlighted the strength of rice farming in Santa Catarina, in the view of SindArroz-SC, the Cereal Industries Union of the State . The meeting was attended by political leaders, such as governor Jorginho Melo, representatives of processing companies and cooperatives, as well as a large number of farmers.
Even though there is the possibility of a minimal reduction in productivity, due to the impacts caused by adverse weather conditions, SindArroz-SC’s expectation is that the harvest will continue to yield high quality grains, one of the main differences of rice produced on Santa Catarina soil, the second largest producer in Brazil.
It is also expected that productivity will increase for producers who harvest in the coming months. “The Harvest Opening gave great prominence and brought even more appreciation to Santa Catarina’s cereal. With the large number of authorities present, we were able to show the strength of rice and the importance of cultivation in the State’s economy. The event also provided us with relevant contact with the governor, in which we were able to present demands from the sector that need to be addressed”, highlights the president of SindArroz-SC, Walmir Rampinelli.
With 26 industries associated with SindArroz-SC, the expectation is that the harvest will also generate good business between rural producers and companies that process the grain in the State. “This partnership facilitates the flow of the harvest and is good for both sides, since farmers have the guarantee of safe deposits for their product and, on the other hand, cereal companies are able to acquire the grain with fair and safe negotiations” , adds Rampinelli.
The 6th Opening of the Santa Catarina Rice Harvest was held by Epagri, in partnership with Cooperativa Juriti, Brazilrice, Sindarroz-SC and Ocesc.
