Porto Alegre City Hall continues to provide services to the population during the New Year holiday, January 1st, with on-call arrangements for bodies that perform essential services. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, 2.
Service 156+POA
Citizens can request information or open protocols 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even on holidays. The other services only require an internet connection. There are four online accesses available: 156 website, 156+POA app, 156 WhatsApp (51 3433-0156) and email [email protected].
Urban cleaning
The Municipal Department of Urban Cleaning (DMLU) normally works with all collections during the holiday: household, selective and public waste. The operational sections operate on duty, with teams from 7am to 12pm and from 1pm to 4pm. The DMLU answers the phone number 156.
Traffic and transport
The Public Transport and Circulation Company (EPTC) informs that due to the New Year holiday on Monday, the 1st, public transport in the Capital operates with changes and runs with a Sunday/holiday timetable. On Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st they operate according to their respective Saturday and Sunday schedules. The updated tables are available on the EPTC website. Users can also check the timetables in real time using the GPS function of the TRI Cittamobi app and the Moovit app. In cases of non-compliance with the timetable or other discrepancies, citizens must report the incident by calling 118. The Citizen Service and inspection teams remain on call 24 hours a day.
Work
The Sine Municipal unit, on Avenida Sepúlveda and Mauá, will be closed. Public service returns on Tuesday, 2nd, from 8am.
Health
The emergency rooms and hospitals in the city – Hospital de Pronto Socorro (HPS) and Hospital Materno Infantil Presidente Vargas (HMIPV) – will remain open 24 hours. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) can be called by calling 192. The Hospital Regulation Team and the epidemiological notification duty continue to operate. Health units and district pharmacies do not operate on the holiday, resuming service on Tuesday, 2, as well as vaccination against flu and Covid-19. The Lami Health Unit, in the Far South, will open on Saturday and Sunday, the 30th and 31st, to support vacationers on nearby beaches. During New Year’s Eve at Orla, the Municipal Health Department will make a service station and five ambulances from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) available to the public.

Water, sewage and drainage
Phone 156, option 2: 24-hour daily service to record water leaks, sewage and rainwater overflows and request operational services. Dmae service also takes place via the 156+POA app. To clarify matters in the commercial area, report clandestine calls and other services, the service takes place from Tuesday, 2) from 8am to 5pm. The shopping centers on Rua José Montaury and Avenida Cristiano Fischer, 2402, will be closed on Monday, the 1st, and will reopen on Tuesday, the 2nd, at 8:30 am. The Zona Norte service station at the Tudo Fácil Unit, located on the third floor of Shopping Bourbon Wallig, at Avenida Assis Brasil, 2611, will also be closed and reopens on Tuesday, 2, at 10am.

The Porto Alegre Integrated Service Coordination Center (Ceic) operates 24 hours a day and responds to risk and emergency situations. Video monitoring monitors urban mobility and public safety, in addition to health and urban cleaning services.
Municipal Guard
The teams will be in parks and squares, in addition to monitoring gatherings. Fixed and motorized surveillance serves health posts, secretariats and municipal buildings. The GM Operations Center is open 24 hours a day on telephone numbers 153 and 156.
Civil defense
The Porto Alegre Civil Defense maintains a 24-hour call on 199 to provide emergency assistance in high-risk situations.
Environment
The inspection team from the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment, Urbanism and Sustainability (Smamus) remains on duty and responds to emergencies at 156 +POA.
Tree management
The Tree Management Team of the Municipal Department of Urban Services (SMSurb) works on-call and responds to emergency requests by calling 156 POA.
Street lighting
The IPSul technical team, responsible for the public lighting PPP, responds to emergency requests over the phone on 0800 000 1740.
