Atlético Mineiro (Galo) and Gerdau are strengthening their football partnership, in force since 2021. For the next 2024 season, the largest Brazilian steel producing company will have its brand on the sleeves of the team’s game shirt, from the youth teams up to the professional. The official announcement of the agreement took place on Monday afternoon (19), with the presence of executives from Gerdau, MRV and Galo’s board of directors.
Given the strengthening of Gerdau’s presence within the Club and as a way of providing Atlético with greater revenue from sponsorship on its uniform, MRV, the Club’s oldest sponsor, gave up the space it occupied in the black and white mantle, starting to dedicate itself to other fronts of the Club’s brand, such as the sponsorship of Arena MRV.
For Gerdau’s CEO, Gustavo Werneck, the partnership with Galo reinforces the company’s confidence in the ability of sport to transform lives. According to him, the continuity of this history that Gerdau has been building with the Club is a source of great pride.
Partnership at the base
Since 2021, Galo’s partnership with Gerdau has offered support to dozens of young athletes who reside in Cidade do Galo and have access to infrastructure with a full gym, restaurant, teaching room, library, games room, IT room, medical departments , physiotherapy and dentistry, among other spaces.
Gerdau also supports the “Galo Social” project, which serves 240 boys and girls, aged between 6 and 18, residents neighboring Cidade do Galo. Young people have educational support from a multidisciplinary team, within the training center itself, and access to sports using the Club’s methodology. The children also have transportation from school to Cidade do Galo, carried out with the support of Vespasiano city hall, and snacks served at the location of the activities.
