Nova Petrópolis will carry out several actions during the year 2024, in reference to the Bicentenary of German Immigration, they were presented on the evening of Tuesday, December 19, at a reception for authorities and guests at the Tannenwald Hall, located in Parque Aldeia do Imigrante. The occasion featured folk dance performances and typical band music, in addition to the official launch of the stamp that will mark the local festivities. Entities and companies in Nova Petrópolis can include their events in the official 2024 schedule.
The event in the Tannenwald Hall began with the presentation of members of the official committee established by the Municipality to organize the festivities. The call was led by vice-mayor Martim Wissmann, a member of the commission along with 15 representatives from the Municipal Administration, the City Council and civil society.
The revitalization consultant for Parque Aldeia do Imigrante and member of the commission, Claudio José Weber, led a historical review relating to 200 years of German immigration and pastor Paulo Einsfeld gave a religious message on behalf of the Nova Petrópolis Ecumenical Team.
The official seal of Nova Petrópolis for the Bicentenary was presented by the Communication coordinator, Francis Jonas Limberger, and the director of the Historical Archive, Pedro Scheer. The image references the monument Portal da Immigração Alemã, located in Praça das Flores, the colors of the German flag, and the mountainous landscapes of Nova Petrópolis.
The German language teacher and member of the commission, Célia Weber Heylmann, detailed the actions of Nova Petrópolis already defined for the bicentenary. Célia emphasized that local entities and companies can still participate in the programming. Contact must be made by email [email protected].
“This is not a program for the Municipal Administration, but rather for the Nova Petrópolis community. And this is how, as a community, we will have a great year 2024, with celebrations worthy of this historic moment that is the Bicentenary”, highlights the mayor of Nova Petrópolis, Jorge Darlei Wolf.
The launch of the actions was attended by Rafael Gessinger, president of the Official Bicentennial Commission established by the State Government. In his speech, Rafael highlighted the fact that Nova Petrópolis highlights its cultural diversity and the volume of actions already defined for the Bicentenary. “Nova Petrópolis is a vibrant city”, stated the president, in reference to the German saying “Kling wie du willst, so klingst du gut”, by Hermann Hesse.
The presentation was supported by the companies Parque Aldeia do Imigrante, Suibom, Cervejaria Edelbrau, Cervejaria Traum and Cooperativa Piá.
