High temperatures led to the opening of public swimming pools in Porto Alegre this Saturday, December 16th. From 2pm onwards, the population can now take advantage of the Vila Restinga Community Center (Cecores), in the Far South. On Sunday (17th), from 2pm onwards, the Vila Ingá Community Center (Cevi) opens, in the Passo das neighborhood. Pedras, in the North Zone.
The other three units with swimming pools: Parque Madepinho Community Center (Cecopam), in the Cavalhada neighborhood; Vila Floresta Community Center (Cecoflor), in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood; and the Primeiro de Maio Community Center (Ceprima), in the Santa Maria Goretti neighborhood, are scheduled to open on Tuesday, 19th, as they are still undergoing the last services for release.
Registrations
Registration for the production of cards for access to public swimming pools in Porto Alegre is open in all five units and must be made directly at the locations. Before using the space, it is necessary to participate in the Health Workshop, with instructions on how to use the pool.
To register, an identity document with ID or CPF is required. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian or bring authorization that Smelj provides signed by the guardian, proof of residence and a 3×4 photo. For those who have already obtained the card in previous years, they need to renew directly at the unit. Furthermore, after issuance, the document gives access to any of the units with swimming pools.
Summer 2023/2024
The Porto Alegre City Council’s Summer Project has been taking place for over 20 years in the city’s public swimming pools, offering free leisure to the population from December to March. Swimming and water aerobics classes are available, as well as access to the pools at specific times.
All swimming pools are inspected by the responsible chemist who, weekly, visits each of the units to test the chlorine and pH of the water, ensuring the safety of bathers.
