The city of Penha, on the north coast of the state of Santa Catarina, is home to the famous Beto Carrero park, opened in December 1991. It only began to become known at the end of that decade, and has already received more than 10 million visitors. Numerous attractions await there, including eight roller coasters. Highlights include the ‘Firewhip’ -the most famous inverted roller coaster-, the ‘Star Mountain’ and the ‘Big Tower’ -with a drop similar to a 30-story building, no less than 120 meters-. The park is in a hot area, so it’s best to bring water bottles. You will definitely drink them frequently. Make sure your shoes are comfortable, as you will spend more than nine hours inside. Although you can buy tickets in the park, purchasing them in advance can save you more than half an hour in line. The park has parking and luggage storage which, even if paid, helps if you are about to return from your trip.
