OSPA ends 2023 with a concert in Canoas on Thursday (14)

The Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (OSPA) closes the 2023 artistic season with a concert at Paróquia Nossa Senhora das Graças, in Canoas. The presentation is scheduled for next Thursday, December 14th, at 7:30 pm.

The Orchestra will be conducted by OSPA maestro and artistic director Evandro Matté, and will feature the special participation of singer Elisa Lopes. The ticket is 1kg of non-perishable food.

The concert is part of the Interior Series of the “OSPA em Movimento” season, which promotes the circulation of concert music throughout Rio Grande do Sul. In tune with the atmosphere of the Parish and the time of year, the presentation’s repertoire is made up of sacred music, as well as great hits from different periods of concert music.

Lyric soprano Elisa Lopes, who accompanied OSPA in a performance in Cachoeirinha, on March 31st this year, rejoins the orchestra. The singer comments on the repertoire she will perform: “I will sing works from the Baroque period, such as ‘Rejoice Greatly’ from the oratorio ‘The Messiah’, by Händel, from classicism with ‘Laudate Dominum’, by Mozart, and from romanticism, with the famous aria ‘ Je veux vivre’, from Gounod’s opera ‘Romeo et Juliette’. Furthermore, Bach/Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’, which somehow unites baroque and classical. Despite the very different musical periods, almost the entire repertoire has a sacred theme, which refers to the Christmas period that is approaching.”

The instrumental repertoire includes very famous pieces, such as the opening of the opera “The Marriage of Figaro”, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), “Gold and Silver Waltz”, by Franz Lehár (1870 – 1948), “Hungarian Dance no. 1”, by Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897), and “Radetzky March”, by Johann Strauss I (1804 – 1849). Two Brazilian compositions will also be performed: “Episódio Sinfônico”, by Francisco Braga (1868 – 1945), and the second movement of “Suíte Vila Rica”, by Mozart Camargo Guarnieri (1907 – 1993).
