The Christmas spirit arrived at the Beira-Rio Stadium, in Porto Alegre, on the afternoon of this Monday (4), when almost a thousand children and teenagers participated in Christmas Gigante 2023. Held by the Children and Youth Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul with support from Sport Club Internacional and Estádio Beira-Rio, the event featured the traditional arrival of Santa Claus and the distribution of gifts.
Since 2014, Natal Gigante (or Christmas of the Welcomed) has benefited around nine thousand young people from the Porto Alegre Institutional Reception Service and Internacional’s social projects. This year, 1,132 letters were written by children and teenagers and sponsored by people from across the state.
The prosecutor and project coordinator, Cinara Vianna Dutra Braga, highlights the positive impacts of the initiative: “This is an excellent opportunity to provide them with a moment of happiness and appreciation, giving them support in rescuing their potential and resilience .”
In addition to Christmas activities, the event also featured musical and artistic performances. The Voice Kids participants Luiza and Valentina, Samba Tri, Renan Kunha, Jalhesa, MC da VR and Tambores do Freire were present.
In addition to the Public Ministry, International and Beira-Rio Stadium, organizers of the event, the action is sponsored by the Zaffari Group, helping with the purchase of part of the food, drinks, more gifts and other supplies needed to hold the party , as well as with Squirrel Mascots and water.
