The Casa de Teatro’s new show, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, is the result of the School’s Assembly Workshop. Based on the work that is considered one of the best comedies by playwright William Shakespeare, the play will be performed at Teatro Olga Reverbel, Multipalco Eva Sopher, Theatro São Pedro, on December 7th and 8th, Thursday and Friday, at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased through the theater’s website.
To carry out this production, director Zé Adão Barbosa, with the assistance of Bruno Busato, immersed the students in Shakespeare’s work through technical preparation with study of voice, body expressiveness and improvisations, concomitantly with a deep analysis of the work and its characters in the play. As a result, a show where great scenes, traps, confusion unfold, entirely permeated by the author’s genius, culminating in a surprising ending.
Synopsis:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (originally: A Midsummer Night’s Dream) is one of William Shakespeare’s masterpieces, written in the mid-1590s. It is considered the author’s greatest comedy. The play centers around the marriage of Duke Theseus of Athens and the queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta. The action, which takes place in Athens, portrays the romantic disagreements of four young people. The plot is completed by the altercations between the couple of gods Titania and Oberon, creating a counterpoint to the misadventures of mortals. This is how great scenes, traps, confusion unfold, until the surprising ending.
